Moonlight3D is an app for Lume Pad 2 that allows you to pair your device with a computer and use it as a wireless monitor. It also supports playing Half-Width SBS 3D content from your PC in 3D on the Lume Pad 2 display.
Moonlight3D is a fork of the open source Moonlight project. For support and questions, in general you should refer to the Moonlight Discord, as Leia will not provide support for any non-3D specific questions on Moonlight. Moonlight3D is 99% identical to the regular 2D version, with the exception being the added 3D capabilities. So if you can't get the 3D version to work, try the 2D version. If the 2D version doesn't work, reach out to the Moonlight community for support. Once you get the 2D version working, Moonlight3D should work great too.
Setting up Moonlight3D and using it is incredibly simple.
Moonlight3D requires some setup on your PC before you can use it. For a good experience, you'll need a PC with a modern graphics card. The process works a bit differently depending on whether you're using a Windows PC with an Nvidia GeForce GPU, or using another type of computer.
Go to the GeForce Experience software
Go to the "Shield" category
Go to "Gamestream" section
Enable "Gamestream"
That's it, you're ready for "Moonlight3D App Setup Instructions"
Download Sunshine software
Setup Sunshine software
That's it, you're ready for "Moonlight3D App Setup Instructions"
Once your computer is set up to stream to Moonlight3D, then you have to get the Moonlight3D app on your Lume Pad 2. Ensure your Lume Pad 2 is on the same wifi network as the computer you're planning on streaming from, and ensure there aren't any restrictions on the wifi network.
Go to the Leia Appstore
Search for Moonlight3D
Download Moonlight3D
Open the Moonlight3D app on your Lume Pad 2
You should see an icon with your PC's name appear after a few seconds
Tap on the icon of your PC
A pairing code will appear, so type the code on the pairing window on your PC
You're ready to use Moonlight3D
Note: Restrictions between computers on a network are almost always active on a public wifi like at a cafe or restaurant or airport and thus Moonlight3D will not work. Nor will it work if you're using a guest network at an office.
To start using Moonlight3D, all you have to do is open the Moonlight3D app and tap on the icon for a paired computer. You will then see options for what to start streaming, which can be your Desktop, Steam, or a game.
Tap on one, and it will begin streaming to your Lume Pad 2. When you've found Half-Width SBS 3D content and it's full screen, you can switch to 3D by tapping and holding on-screen with three fingers for a second. Be careful though, if you tap and don't hold the on-screen keyboard will appear.
Besides turning your Lume Pad 2 into a wireless monitor for your PC, these are the various other features available in Moonlight3D.
2D/3D Switch: Tap and hold with three fingers on-screen for a second to switch between 2D mode and 3D mode. 3D mode works to display any full-screen half-width SBS 3D content that's on screen in 3D.
On-Screen Mouse: You can swipe around the screen of your Lume Pad 2 with one finger to control the PC's mouse remotely. More options for mouse control are available in Moonlight3D's settings.
On-Screen Keyboard: You can summon the on-screen keyboard by tapping quickly on-screen with three fingers. Tap again with three fingers to dismiss it.
Real Mouse: Mice work in every way. They can be wired to the PC, connected over Bluetooth to the PC, wired using USB-C to the Lume Pad 2, or connected over Bluetooth to the Lume Pad 2. In all cases, the input will be passed to the PC without issue.
Real Keyboard: Keyboards work in every way. They can be wired to the PC, connected over Bluetooth to the PC, wired using USB-C to the Lume Pad 2, or connected over Bluetooth to the Lume Pad 2. In all cases, the input will be passed to the PC without issue.
Game Controllers: Game controllers work in every way if supported by the game. They can be wired to the PC, connected over Bluetooth to the PC, wired using USB-C to the Lume Pad 2, or connected over Bluetooth to the Lume Pad 2. In all cases, the input will be passed to the game without issue.
Note: By default, Moonlight3D requires both the PC and the Lume Pad 2 to be on the same wireless network without any network restrictions. However, using the Sunshine software, you can configure your PC to stream to Moonlight3D over the internet, regardless of where your devices are. This works over the internet only AFTER the initial setup where both devices are paired while on the same network.
